PhilBoxing.com

TV 5, the television network owned by the eminent businessman-sportsman Manny Pangilinan, is expanding its commitment to the coverage of Philippine Sports. Following its well-received coverage of the Rio Olympics of 2016 in which Heidilin Diaz won a first silver medal in women?s weightlifting and aspires to go for gold in the 2020 Tokyo Games, TV 5 and the Philippine Olympic Committee headed by president Jose ?Peping? Cojunagco have announced the TV 5 has the rights to cover the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 19 to 31.

Similar to the broadcast of the Rio Olympics which was carried by its different platforms, the SEA Games will be telecast on TV 5, Aksyon and Hyper and similar to the Rio Olympics coverage will strive to re-affirm its dominance and commitment to provide Filipino viewers with only the best in sports.

TV 5 head Chot Reyes and Sports head Patricia Bermudez Hizon have made it clear during a recent celebration to mark the Kapatid network?s exclusive coverage of the Rio Olympics at the Resorts World Hotel in Pasay City that the network is firmly committed to the development of Philippine sports and serve as an instrument in support of Filipino athletes in partnership with the POC and the Philippine Sports Commission.

TV 5 said ?for Filipinos, the Rio 2016 Olympics was ?both a quest and a celebration of sports, bravery and identity that shows bravery that comes from pure strength and passion. This spirit will continue to grow strong for the next challenge in the coming 2017 SEA Games and TV 5?s network will remain to be the country?s foremost sports supporter with its commitment to bring thye best and most exciting sports events ?live? to the sports-loving Filipino audience.?

TV 5 is currently telecasting the PBA Governors Cup best-of-seven championship series in which the Meralco Bolts stunned favored Ginebra San Miguel to win game one in a classic overtime encounter in which its drew widespread positive comments for its coverage of the opening ceremony call-out and the game itself.

Game two for which tickets have already been sold out is expected to be another hardcourt ?war? with Melaco Bolts team owner Manny Pangilinan warning the Bolts that Ginebra is bound to come fighting back to try and even the series on Sunday.
