MUHAMMAD ALI "THE GREATEST" QUOTES PART III By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Mon, 13 Jun 2016 I began to be a fan of Muhammad Ali because of my late father Marcelo Samaco. When TV was still black and white he never missed an Ali fight. With the advent of Betamax and VHS, he collected tapes of Ali's bouts. Here is the conclusion of The Greatest's famous quotes: Terrorists are not following Islam. Killing people and blowing up people and dropping bombs in places and all this is not the way to spread the word of Islam. So people realize now that all Muslims are not terrorists. I shook up the world, I shook up the world. I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was. It will be a killa, and a chilla, and a thrilla, when I get the gorilla in Manila. I always bring out the best in men I fight, but Joe Frazier, I'll tell the world right now, brings out the best in me. I'm gonna tell ya, that's one helluva man, and God bless him. Life is so, so short. Bible says it's like a vapor. I should be a postage stamp, because that's the only way I'll ever get licked. I'm beautiful. I'm fast. I'm so mean I make medicine sick. I can't possibly be beat. The fact is, I was never too bright in school. I ain't ashamed of it, though. I mean, how much do school principals make a month? My toughest fight was with my first wife. If you lose a big fight, it will worry you all of your life. It will plague you - until you get your revenge. I wanted to use my fame and this face that everyone knows so well to help uplift and inspire people around the world. I'm the most recognized and loved man that ever lived cuz there weren't no satellites when Jesus and Moses were around, so people far away in the villages didn't know about them. Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the U.S. Bureau of Wild Life. A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he'll never crow. I have seen the light and I'm crowing. I'm no leader; I'm a little humble follower. When I won the Golden Gloves in 1960, that made me realize I had a chance. And when I won at the Olympics, that sealed it: I was the champ. There are no pleasures in a fight but some of my fights have been a pleasure to win. I want to be remembered as a man who won the heavyweight title three times, who was humorous, and who treated everyone right. As a man who never looked down on those who looked up to him, and who helped as many people as he could. As a man who stood up for his beliefs no matter what. As a man who tried to unite all humankind through faith and love. And if all that's too much, then I guess I'd settle for being remembered only as a great boxer who became a leader and a champion of his people. And I wouldn't even mind if folks forgot how pretty I was. Rest in Peace The Greatest! Click here to view a list of other articles written by Maloney L. Samaco. |
