NBA PLAYOFFS -- Raptors knot series with 96-92 Game 2 thriller By Mark Josef PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 May 2016 TORONTO -- The fans inside and outside the Air Canada Centre roared as its star player, Kyle Lowry, hit his first jumper early in the first quarter. Lowry's shooting woes have been a topic of concern coming into Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Miami Heat. In Game 1, Lowry only shot 23% from the field, including 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. After Tuesday's loss to Miami, videos of Lowry staying in the gym late and working on his shot in the empty arena went viral. Lowry appeared to be on his way to recovery after scoring 7 points in the first quarter to match his total point production in Game 1. At the end of the 1st quarter, Lowry's Raptors were up 29-19. But the second and third quarter would not be as productive for Kyle. He only managed to add 6 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. In contrast, Joe Johnson stepped up for his Heat after scoring only 2 points in the first quarter. He poured in 15 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to keep the Heat within striking distance of the Raptors. Dwane Wade would put the Heat on top 65-63 with a 15 foot jumper at the end of the 3rd Quarter after trailing by as much as 14 points in the second quarter. After trailing the Heat for most of the 4th quarter, the Raptors would stage run to take the lead back from the Heat 82-80 via put back from Jonas Valanciunas off of a missed free throw. Lowry seemed to get his shot back when the Raptors needed it the most. He would make a jumper from 15 feet to give the Raptors the go ahead basket with 45 seconds remaining in the game to put Toronto up by four, 84-80 Dwane Wade would respond and make a clutch three to cut Toronto's lead to 84-83. Kyle Lowry retaliates by making another jump shot to put the Raptors up by three, with 14 seconds left 86-83 The game would eventually go to overtime when Goran Dragic hit a three pointer to tie the game 86-86 with 10.5 seconds remaining in the game. The Raptors would hold on to win the game in overtime 96-92. Lowry would end up with 18 points; 4 rebounds and 5 assists. DeMarre Carroll led the Raptors with 21 points with DeMar DeRozan pouring in 20 points. Goran Dragic led the way for the Heat in scoring putting up 20 points, while Joe Johnson and Dwane Wade chipped in 17 points each. The series goes to Miami for Game 3 on Saturday.
