NBA -- Miami too hot for the Lakers, 101-88

MIAMI-In a league where the trend is pointing towards going small, Miami's Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside stood tall in the Heat's 101-88 victory of the Kobe-less Los Angeles Lakers.
The duo notched a double-double Bosh scored 20 points and grabbed 11 boards while Whiteside added 19 points and 15 rebounds along with 3 blocked shots on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Arena.
On the day the Heat traded long-time point guard Mario Chalmers. the team needed the morale boosting play from its bigs.
A performance that didn't go unnoticed by Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra liked "I like the identity this basketball team is starting to embrace. A physical, gritty, tough defensive minded team and to be able to wear on them in the second half with some real spirited passionate defensive possessions is what we're trying to get to."
Nick Young scored 17 points off the bench, hitting his first 5 shots from beyond the arc. Journeyman Lou Williams and Metta World Peace scored 14 points apiece.
The Lakers have dropped the third game of their current five-game road trip and the first of their back to back games on the road this season. They will face Victor Oladipo and the youthful Orlando Magic tomorrow while Miami will continue its 7-game home stand against the Utah Jazz Thursday.
