NONITO DONAIRE PRAISES GREAT FIGHT CARD OF ALA PROMOTIONS-ABS-CBN IN INAUGURAL U.S VENTURE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 19 Oct 2015 Five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire has praised what he described as ?the great fight card? of ALA Promotions in partnership with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California on Sunday, Manila Time. Donaire who did the TV coverage alongside Dyan Castillejo told the New Standard/philboxing.com ?the fights were great? even as he singled out undefeated IBF Intercontinental super bantamweight champion Prince Albert Pagara and IBF Youth featherweight champion Mark "Magnifico? Magsayo for their superb performance. He said Magsayo was ?very impressive? while Prince Albert was ?very tough and just amazing and has matured. He was very composed? and added that Prince Albert ?is capable of beating some of the world champions at this weight class.? Nonito agreed with his father/trainer ?Dodong? Donaire who told us earlier that Prince Albert and Magsayo are ?the future of Philippine boxing.?. He said the flag-waving, cheering Filipino fans were great. ?It was like a homecoming? and he was sure that next time around there will be a much bigger crowd after they saw and read about the Filipino fighters terrific performance. Nonito remarked that WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes who won a lopsided twelve round decision to retain his title for the eighth time against the Mexican champion Juan ?Pinky? Alejo was his usual ?technically sound? champion while WBO No. 2 ranked super lightweight Jason Pagara surprised many with his 2nd round stoppage of southpaw Santos Benavides of Nicaragua ?who was tough.? ?Dodong? Donaire said overall the ALA fighters were ?very impressive? but stressed that the 21 year old Prince Albert and the 20 year old Magsayo need ?more experience and a little refinement? as they have a tendency ?to want to score early knockouts. They need to be a little careful.? He said Prince Albert ?showed more maturity than before but he still has the eagerness to knock his opponent out even though Nicaraguan southpaw William ?Chirizo? Gonzalez could handle his punches despite Prince Albert being stronger.? ?Dodong? Donaire noted that Magsayo ?wanted to knock our his opponent so soon although (Mexican Yardley Suarez) was good and undefeated.? He commended Jason Pagara ?who did well against a guy who was looking to connect with his looping punches?, scoring a 2nd round stoppage of Nicaragua?s Santos Benavides. As for Donnie Nietes who won by a near shutout over Mexican champion Juan Alejo, he said the 33 year old Filipino was ?very intelligent and very smart.?
