RESULTS FOR LEAGUE OF FISTS OCT 10 SECOND ROUND

SHANGHAI, CHINA ? The crowd inside the Mixing Room had another entertaining night of boxing with the second installment of the second round of matches for the League of Fists tournament.

The evening was opened by Li Weifang using his height and reach advantage to get a split decision win over Zhang Zheng.

Judge Mekin Sumon scored it 40-36, Yang Hong 39-37 while Yan Wen Yong had it for Zhang at 39-37.

Chen Junfu won by TKO at the start of the second round after Zhang Qixiu injured his left foot and decided not to continue fighting.

Li Tonghui gave an impressive performance when he peppered Yang Guang with his head shots before landing a hard shot to the liver that made Yang pause and signal and that he would not continue fighting. Referee Sungworn Klungboonkrong stopped the fight at 2:18 of round one.

Li, whose name appears on boxrec as Tong Hui Li is now 2-0, 2KO?s.

Li Leshan beat Chen Luhua by TKO in the second round. Chen was knocked down in the opening round and turned his back when Li turned up the heat in the second prompting Referee Sungworn Klungboonkrong to call a halt to the bout.

In a rough and tumble match, Gao Jiyang prevailed by unanimous verdict against Maierdan Siyiti. The scorecards of Zhao Yubin, Feng Yao Chen and Yang Hong all showed 39-37.

Pan Jinxiang beat Liu Yongcai by split decision in a bruising scuffle. Mekin Sumon and Tao Zhendong had it 39-37 for Pan, Zhao Yubin scored it 39-37 for Liu.

Niu Zhongjie bloodied the nose of Jin Ming then stopped him in the third round. Niu pinned Jin on the ropes with a barrage of punches prompting Referee Surat Soikrachang to stop the fight.

Luo Qiang beat Maimaiti Keyimu by unanimous decision. Scores of Surat Soikrachang, Yang Hong and Mekin Sumon were all 40-36.

Ji Tao knocked down Ye Baofei in the third round but a clash of heads opened a cut on Ji?s forehead which briskly spurted blood prompting the stoppage. Ji was ahead on the judges scores which awarded him the technical decision win. Yang Hong and Feng Yao Cheng had it 29-27, Tao Zhendong ? 30-26.

Weng Tao got a hard fought unanimous decision win over Dilixiati. Tao Zhendong and Han Hongxiang had it 40-36, Mekin Sumon 39-37. Dilixiati suffered another cut due to a clash of heads just like in his previous League fight against Guo Ji Lin which ended in a technical draw.

The League of Fists professional boxing competition is promoted by Top Rank and SECA. The bouts are sanctioned and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China. The league is geared towards searching for new talent and stars and the crowning of an all-China champion and is supported by the WBO.

WBO VP for Asia Pacific Leon Panoncillo has also been active is providing advice and lecturing to the referees and judges here in China. The PBC has made it a point to review the performance of referees and judges by meeting after every fight to make sure that the subsequent fight cards will be officiated in a professional manner.

The next fight dates for the League will be on October 23 and 24 still at the Mercedes Benz Arena.
