NBA -- Hornets sting Heat in preseason play
By Roman David Garay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 06 Oct 2015

MIAMI -- The Miami Heat began their 28th preseason schedule with a 90-77 defeat at the hands of Southwest Division rivals the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night at the American Airlines Arena.
The Hornets guard proved to be the difference, showing their might with a combined 48 points. Brian Roberts led the way with 21 points while Kemba Walker chipped in 17 points. Free agent free acquisition Jeremy Lin added 11 markers.
Charlotte moved up to 2-0 in exhibition play after beating the Orlando Magic in its first assignment.
"I was able to knock down a couple of early ones and it got me going a little bit. Just staying aggressive, that's the mindset for me." Roberts told reporters.
The Hornets sat out Nicolas Batum, big man Al Jefferson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who is nursing a dislocated right shoulder.
It was Miami's sixth loss in nine preseason games all-time against the Hornets. The Heat shot just 37 percent from the field, missing 13 of their 16 3-point attempts. Chris Bosh paced the Heat with 14 points and seven rebounds while Dwyane Wade, Amare's Stoudemire and Gerald Green each had 12 points.
Up next for Miami is a tussle against the Orlando Magic on October 7 at the Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky. (RD)
