FIRST EVER ALA BOXING PRESSCON IN THE USA IS A ROUSING SUCCESS (PHOTOS) By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sat, 26 Sep 2015 Glendale, CA:- Early at noon today, ALA Boxing Promotions International presented its first ever US presscon to meet the greater SoCal media. The event was held at Max?s Restaurant, an ?everyday go to? restaurant for homesick Pinoys who never forgot their cravings for the good ole? Max ?s Fried chicken. Although the humble folks at ALA Promotions I am sure never meant it that way, some in the media took it in a good kind of way that the event was to announce that there is ?a new kid in the block?. Of course it was also to hype the huge fight card dubbed as ?Pinoy Pride 33, Pilipinas vs The World? ALA Promotions is putting up on October 17th at the famed StubHub Athletic Complex in the City of Carson, CA some 15 miles east of downtown LA. ALA Promotions partnered with the largest TV conglomerate in the Philippines, ABS-CBN and its US affiliate ?The Filipino Chanel? (TFC) North America in their first ever sortie in the US. The event started at noon with a nice lunch courtesy of the Promotions and its partners followed by the formal presscon at 1:00 p.m. hosted by Nerissa Fernandez of the ABS-CBN Global Corporate Affairs Offices. The presentation was prompt, classy and business-like, typical of ALA presscons. Philippine LA Consulate consul general Leo M. Herrera-Lim (R) speaks during the 'Pinoy Pride 33 - Philippines vs The World' presscon at the Max's in Glendale Friday. L-R: Trainer Edito Villamor, Mark Magsayo, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer, Jason Pagara and Albert Pagara. Evidently present at the event was the young Michael Aldeguer, CEO of the ALA Boxing Promotions International and the local corporate personalities from ABS-CBN namely Jun del Rosario (Head of Marketing and Global Head of Carriage) Jun Resurreccion (North America Head of Ad Sales, Trade, Marketing and Events)Philippine Consul General Leo Herrara Lim and Media and Information officer, Cesar Angeles. ALA Director of Operations Jeana Alvarez, and a whole group TFC personnel, ALA Chief trainer Edito Villamor and three of the four Filipinos that will showcase their talents on October 17th, brothers Jason and Albert Pagara and Mark Magsayo. A decent number of SoCal Filipino media folks came to the event, some to get photos and sound bites, others just curious how Filipinos will handle their very first big boxing presscon event in the country. The ALA Promotions did not disappoint. The presscon was well organized and it went smoothly. Indeed, a tribute to the organizational skills and leadership of ALA Promotions and the reliability of its partners from ABS-CBN, and the TFC. Curiously, the ?fiercely loyal Pinoy fans? that usually come to these kinds of events (invited or not) if Manny Pacquiao is present, were conspicuously absent, a clear indication of what kind of ?fans? and ?followers? Pacquiao has accidentally created by his overly generous ticket and cash give-a-ways. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ed de la Vega, DDS. |
