POSSIBLE DONAIRE OPPONENT, WBA CHAMPION SCOTT QUIGG HEADS TO THE WILD CARD GYM By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 27 Jul 2015 WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg is heading to Los Angeles at the famous Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach with his family after handily disposing the challenger Kiko Martinez in the Manchester Arena the same night Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire also battered former European champion Anthony Settoul in two rounds in Macau. Sky Sports in Britain reported that Quigg could be forgiven for taking a break following his stunning second-round knockout. But ?as one of the fighters known for training ferociously he is likely to spend his 'holiday' in the feted gym run by trainer Freddie Roach and frequented by the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.? Quigg told Sky Sports "I'll have a few days off but I'll be out there training. "I'm off to Los Angeles with my family for a week - or out to the Wild Card for a week! After four or five days having a rest and doing all that holiday stuff, I'll be in the Wild Card. The WBA champion whom Donaire described as ?strong? said "I think we all know where I will be spending my days, getting some training in and some sparring!" Quigg dropped Martinez twice in the second round to retain his world 122 pound title last July 18 while Donaire sent Settoul to the canvas twice in the opening round and once in the second to score his second comeback victory after a crushing 6th round TKO to the bigger and stronger Nicholas ?Axe Man? Walters when he lost his WBA featherweight title in Carson, California. In his first bout after the loss to Walters, Donaire scored a 2nd round TKO over William Prado of Brazil at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on March 28 this year.
