MAGSAYO PASSES FIRST BIG TEST WITH FLYING COLORS ; PINOY PRIDE 31 UNDERCARD RESULTS By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 Jul 2015 CEBU CITY -- Blue chip prospect Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo captured his first title belt ? the IBF Youth featherweight crown - with a spectacular fifth round TKO win against Mexico's Rafael Reyes. After trading hard hooks in the opening round, Magsayo began to find his range and effectively darted in and out. Reyes tried to trap him by goading him to stay in front and trade. But Magsayo scored a knockdown in the third in a moment of confusion when Reyes tried to complain about a low blow. Reyes forgot the old boxing adage to protect himself at all times. He got up but continued to receive hard volleys in the subsequent rounds. In the third, Magsayo stepped up his offense up a notch and sent Reyes on his knees with a stiff left uppercut. Referee Ver Abainza stopped the fight at the 2:29 mark. Referee Ver Abainza waives off the fight after Magsayo scored his second knockdown of the fight in the fifth round. Kevin Jake Cataraja stopped Tefa in the sixth round for his successfuly pro debut. Mexican cruiserweights Jorge Kahwagi and Alejandro Olivas treated the crowd with an entertaining 57 second fight. Gasca (R) stops Rasmanudin in the second round. Kevin Jake ?KJ? Cataraja won his pro debut with a sixth round KO of Indonesian Ardi Tefa. Cataraja unloaded his arsenal but Tefa showed good survival skills. A wicked left hook to the ribs sent Tefa down and referee Ben Necesario reached the ten count at 2:19. In the all-Mexican cruiserweight battle, Jorge Kahwagi knocked down Ramon Alejandro Olivas twice in the first round. Referee Samson Libres stopped the fight after 57 seconds. Roli ?Zuma? Gasca used a left hook to the jaw to knock out Rasmanudin of Indonesia in the second round. Time ? 24 seconds. Vic Saludar's vicious head shots sent Michael Kaibigan sprawling to the canvas. Referee Nic Banal counted him out at the 1:54 mark. Elmo Traya knocked out Bryan Macamay in round 3. Referee Teddy Alivio counted him out at 1:47. Carlo Demecillo won by unanimous decision over Virgel Vitor. Demecillo scored a knockdown in round one. Judges scores ? Arnie Najera ? 57-56, Arnel Pasion ? 57-56, Ben Necesario ? 58-55. Raul Yu and Richard Sueno battled to a split draw in the opening bout. Scores ? Edgar Olalo ? 57-57, Arnie Najera ? 58-56 for Yu, Edwin Barrientos ? 58-56 for Sueno.
