THAI PROMOTER TURNS DOWN TV5 REQUEST FOR COMMENTARY POSITION FOR CASIMERO-RUENROENG TITLE FIGHT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 29 May 2015 In an inexplicable decision, the Thai promoter of the IBF Flyweight title fight between mandatory challenger and former IBF junior flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero and Thai world champion Amnat Ruenroeng has turned down a request of TV 5 for a commentary position for the Philippine network?s telecast of the fight. In response to a query from TV 5?s sports executive Dong Capinpuyan, Mono 29 TV producer Choopol Sriprai of the Thai network which is covering the title fight said ?I talk to Mr.Jimmy (Chaichotchuang) boxing promoter, I?m sorry to inform you that we cannot allow TV 5 to cover live at ringside? raising questions as to what the problem was unless the Thais plan to cover-up some shenanigans which the TV5 panel could spot or the producer misunderstood the request. Sammy Gello-ani, Casimero?s co-promoter with well known international promoter and matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that perhaps the Thais thought TV 5 wanted to cover the fight with their own TV equipment and were not merely asking for a commentary position. Gello-ani said he would contact the Thai promoter and seek clarification. Asked whether he was concerned about the possibility of a hometown decision in Thailand, Gello-ani said ?it's not a problem because Casimero is used to fighting abroad and winning.? Casimero is currently deep in training in Las Vegas along with featherweight ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona and is reportedly in ?top shape.? The 25 year old Casimero has a record of 21-2 with 13 knockouts. He earned a mandatory title shot with a rousing 2nd round TKO of Puerto Rico?s Armando Santos in a flyweight eliminator in Puerto Rico. Ruenroeng who is 35 years old is a former Olympian who turned pro after the Beijing Olympics and won the vacant IBF flyweight title with a unanimous twelve round decision over OPBF champion Rocky Fuentes on January 22, 2014 and successfully defended the title also by a unanimous decision over popular two-time Chinese Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming in Macau last March 8.is known for his hit and run tactics and refusing to engage but Casimero himself has said Ruenroeng can run but he can?t hide and promised to catch up with him at some stage of the fight and knock him out.
