DENNIS TUBIERON?S OPPONENT WANTS TO BE THE NEW RICKY HATTON By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Apr 2015 Warrington. When Dennis ?The Scorpion? Tubieron faces Britain?s undefeated Josh Warrington at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday, the 25 year old Tubieron will be facing a tough opponent who is bidding to become the new Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton with the 24 year old featherweight setting his sights on bringing the world title to Leeds. Warrington who had an impressive 2014 in which he won the British Commonwealth and European belts, is looking to continue his winning ways against Tubieron who has a record of 19-3-2 with 8 knockouts and is coming off a hugely controversial majority draw in a clash for the vacant WBC International featherweight title against Carlo Magali last December 28. Warrington on the other hand outclassed Edwin Tellez in Berlin last February in his first bout outside the United Kingdom. In a video released by promoters Matchroom Sport showing behind the scenes training of Warrington who prepares to make it 21 wins in 21 fights said ?I grew up watching Ricky Hatton from Manchester. I thought that was something special. I thought, ?why hasn?t Leeds got that? I want to bring success to the city of Leeds. I want to bring world titles to Leeds. All the years of training and sacrifice all comes down to this one moment.? Sky Sports which will telecast the official eliminator for the WBC featherweight title reports that the Leeds boxer ?faces a tough task in his hometown as he looks to pick up the vacant WBC International crown against ?The Scorpion? from the Philippines.? Sky Sports recalled that Tubieron fought Carlo Magali for the WBC international title in December with the action-packed encounter ending in a controversial draw and leaving the title vacant but said Warrington will be aiming to continue a meteoric rise over the last year that has seen him beat Samir Mouniemne, Rendall Munroe, Martin Lindsay and Davide Dieli in a dazzling run of displays. Warrington added, ?I have to prove myself against Dennis Tubieron.? Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
