NBA -- Surgery to sideline for remainder of season

COLUMBUS -- The New York Knicks' disappointing season was dealt another devastating blow on Wednesday when the team announced that Carmelo Anthony will have surgery that will require the star forward to miss between four to six months.
According to an ESPN report, Anthony will undergo a procedure "that includes a left knee patella tendon debridement and repair.
"What we're finding out from the medical is on court, it could be four to six months," Knicks team president Phil Jackson said in a press conference. "But we're really confident he'll heal well and he'll be fine," Jackson said.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Anthony is an 8-time All-star who signed a five-year, $124 million contract with the Knicks last July. He started in 40 games this season and averaged a team-high 24.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per outing.
With a 10-43 record, the Knicks are dead last in the NBA's overall standings.
