PAKISTAN TO BEGIN PROFESSIONAL BOXING

Pakistan is the latest country to enter the ranks of professional boxing under the aegis of the World Boxing Council.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has announced during his weekly news conference in Mexico City that ?after four years of planning and hard work Pakistan will embrace professional boxing.?
Sulaiman said he would travel to Pakistan on Sunday to meet with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and to launch professional boxing with the help of the Asian Federation.
The WBC website quoted Sulaiman who said ?this is a great step for boxing as Pakistan will be an important producer of great champions.?
WBC welterweight Silver champion Amir Khan of Britain who is of Pakistani heritage is developing several of his own key projects in Pakistan.
The WBC points out that these efforts of Khan plus the important support of the premier professional boxing organization in the world will bring huge benefits throughout this region.
