NBA -- Whiteside's 20 points carries Heat past Celtics
By Roman David Garay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 03 Feb 2015

MIAMI -- Missing two starters -- Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng -- the Miami Heat found a way to carve out an 83-75 win over the Boston Celtcis on Sunday at the T.D. Garden.
Hassan Whiteside had 20 points and nine boards while Chris Bosh registered 18 and seven rebounds as the Heat improved to 21-26, seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Norris Cole checked in with 13 points off the bench and James Ennis added eight for Miami.
The Celtics shot just 30 of 81 field goals (37 percent) while allowing the Heat to make 41 percent from the field. The disparity didn't sit well with the Celtics head coach Brad Stevens
"We've got to do a better job of finding our pulse at the defensive end regardless of whether the ball is going in the basket or not. When you miss the number of shots that we missed, I thought we let that affect how we talked defensively. I could hear the silence and that's a bad thing," Steven told ESPN.com.
Tyler Zeller and Avery Bradley each had 17 to lead the Celtics but it wasn't enough to lift Boston, which made only 4-of-19 from 3-point territory (21.1 percent) and was outrebounded 46-40.. Brandon Bass tallied 15 points and six boards for the Celtics.
With the debacle, the Celtics fell to 16-30, 3.5 games behind the Charlotte Hornets for the eighth and last playoffs berth in the Eastern Conference.
