Getting to the truth in that Miami meeting By Recah Trinidad PhilBoxing.com Sun, 01 Feb 2015 (SAVE P-NOY: Malacanang tried to brush off national displeasure over President Aquino?s unbelievable conduct, after he absented himself from the arrival honors for fallen members of the Special Action Force (SAF) at the Villamor Airbase. The flimsy excuse and effort by the national information office however created an outcry, with bristling critics mincing no words in crying Mr. Aquino has obviously gone out of his head. There next came pained calls for the President to be sacked, and saved from himself, asap.) ** HE was supposed to have denied it, so Manny Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz was made to admit, rather reluctanty, that Floyd Mayweather had told them straight off to quit spouting lies during that sidecourt confrontation in the middle of the Miami Heat NBA game at the American Airlinrd Arena last Tuesday. It also became clear that it was not exactly a very cordial meeting Mayweather had with Pacquiao in Miami. To set the record straight here?s a report by the indefatigable Ben Thompson fror Fighthype.com (posted Jan. 27, 2015): ?According to one source, Mayweather told both Pacquiao and Koncz to ?stop lying? about signing any contracts. The same eyewitness tells us that Mayweather then informed Pacquiao that he?s been told multiple lies. Mayweather explained that ?he has been trying to make the fight happen? and chose to stay silent throughout the negotiation process because ?I don?t entertain bullshit.? ?Another source tells us that Pacquiao was on ?hush mode? , speechless as Mayweather repeated ?stop lying? and asked him ?what contract? he signed. It was added Mayweather told Pacquiao that it was not professional to lie, while stressing ?If you?re not going to tell the truth, it?s best to keep silent.? ** There was actually a positive twist to the meeting, but this came after Mayweather dropped by Pacquiao?s hotel room, where the two boxing stars had a cordial discussion, following the NBA game. Meanwhile, it was confirmed in a report yesterday that the contract Koncz, Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum had bragged about was non-existent. In a report for philboxing.com, veteran broadcast journalist Ronnie Nathanielsz said Koncz has admitted (to him) ?no contract has been prepared yet for the the planned May 2 mega bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao.? ?It?s still a waiting game, and there are no developments, nothing,? Koncz was quoted as saying. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Recah Trinidad. |
