NO CONTRACT PREPARED AS YET FOR PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 31 Jan 2015 Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao?s longtime adviser Michael Koncz has admitted that no contract has been prepared as yet for the planned May 2 multi-million dollar showdown between Pacquiao and undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. Koncz said ?it's still a waiting game and there are no developments, nothing.? Asked whether there was a contract prepared for the fighters to sign, Koncz replied ?No?, which gives credence to Mayweather?s reprimand to both Koncz and Pacquiao to ?stop lying? about a contract when they faced off at the Miami Heat-Milwaukee Bucks game at halftime in Miami the other day. World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports/Philboxing in an overseas telephone conversation that he had ?no idea about the contract because they keep very quiet about everything.? However, Sulaiman said that while ?only a few persons know what are the chances? of the fight happening, his ?personal hope and feeling is that the fight will happen.? Sulaiman remarked ?the whole world wants to see the fight. It?s a fight the world deserves to watch. They have waited for many years. It can be a great year for boxing? should the fight push through. He said the World Boxing Council which recognizes Mayweather as welterweight and super welterweight champion with Pacquiao ranked as No. 1 welterweight contender ?prepared everything for the fight to happen ? no mandatory in either weight division. There can be no excuse, no obstacle for the fight not to happen.? Well known Australian promoter Peter Maniatis informed the Standard that Mayweather and his entourage is scheduled to arrive in Australia on Wednesday and will be dinner guest at events in both Melbourne and Sydney before he winds up his four-day trip.
