CARIASO REJOINS ALASKA AS ASSISTANT COACH

PhilBoxing.com

Jeffrey Cariaso has returned to Alaska as an assistant coach following a forgettable stint as head coach of Barangay Ginebra who, at the end of the All Filipino Conference replaced ?The Jet? with come-backing Ato Agustin.

Cariaso, the former PBA All Star player who was earlier appointed basketball director for the Alaska basketball Power Camp, Junior NBA and Junior WNBA joins a powerhouse coaching staff headed by Alex Compton, Louie Alas and Topex Robinson who put on a magnificent performance in taking Alaska to the recent All Filipino Finals where they lost in the seventh game of an epic series.

Cariaso said ?I am ecstatic to be back with Alaska . I am truly grateful for this chance to come home to the company that helped develop my basketball career. I am glad to back.?

Drafted 6th overall by Alaska in 1995 he won the ?Rookie of the Year? award after helping Alaska win the 1995 PBA Governors Cup and was an integral part of the grandslam-winning team of 1996 under Tim Cone who has won the most number of pro league championships surpassing the venerable Baby Dalupan.

After a tour of duty with other PBA teams, Cariaso re-joined Alaska in 2004 and assumed the added responsibility of team captain before he retired from the PBA in 2010 and had his number which was only one of six retired by the Alaska Aces franchise.

After being named assistant coach of BMeg Llamados (now Purefoods) in 2011, Cariaso was named head coach of Ginebra San Miguel in 2014 and rejoins Alaska after his release.
Cariaso said Alaska ?is my foundation. Alaska drafted me, at Alaska they instilled in me the values that I have learned and assumed in my career as well as my personal life. These values are determination, discipline, hard work and integrity which is something that is especially close to my heart.?

Alaska head coach Compton was grateful for the addition of Cariaso to the talented coaching staff and said ?I am excited to welcome Jeffrey to the Alaska Aces. He has been a winner at every level. He is a man of integrity and a great teacher of the game. I believe he will fit right in with our other coaches and bring great value plus having played so many years in an Alaska uniform it really feels like we are welcoming him home.?
