PACQUIAO DINES WITH PRINCE HARRY, GIFTS HIM AUTOGRAPHED BOXING GLOVES By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 23 Jan 2015 Congressman Manny Pacquiao and his wife, Sarangani province vice governor Jinkee Pacquiao dined with Prince Harry on Thursday night in London in what is considered a historic occasion. The eight division world champion gifted Prince Harry with a pair of autographed Cleto Reyes gloves with the Philippine flag. Prince Harry is the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana and is fourth in the line of succession to the British throne. Pacquiao?s longtime adviser Michael Koncz in a text message to the Manila Standard/Viva Sports said ?the dinner was a great friendly and private affair with the Prince and a couple of his aides.? Koncz described the dinner as ?a very pleasant down to earth experience and Manny and I along with a couple of the Prince?s aides/associates will make a surprise visit to a boxing gym for underprivileged kids this afternoon.? Responding to our questions about Amir Khan, Koncz said ?I spoke to hid Dad and uncle last nigh and we hope to get together today for late lunch." However, there was no word on what the Prince and the onetime pauper Pacquiao discussed although both men are deeply involved in charity work and that was what sparked the invitation to Pacquiao. Following the private dinner, the Prince posed for pictures with Pacquiao and his wife which the ?Fighter of the Decade? posted on his Instagram account in which he said ?Dinner with Prince Harry. It?s so nice. Thank you Lord.? In another post Pacquiao added, ?He is so nice and a humble person. May God bless you more Prince Harry. It was a great experience.? WBC welterweight Silver champion Amir Khan who has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Pacquiao?s next fight in case the planned May 2 showdown with undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr does not push through, coincidentally met with Prince Harry?s father, the Prince of Wales, recently but while the two discussed the injuries they sustained in their respective sports ? the Prince of Wales in polo and Khan in boxing, there was no talk about a possible Pacquiao-Amir Khan title fight. Meantime, strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza who now works with Mayweather after a previously impressive and rewarding stint with Pacquiao, put another damper on Pacquiao?s fight prospects telling the Manila Standard/Viva Sports what makes them think that Al Haymon, who manages Khan, would allow Amir to face Manny when he didn?t agree to the Mayweather fight. Ariza repeated his claim that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was the stumbling block to a Mayweather fight being made and that Pacquiao is likely to wind up fighting undefeated Jessie Vargas or former sparring partner Ruslan Provodnikov since they are both handled by Top Rank.
