CLAVERAS TO DEFEND WBC ASIA BOXING COUNCIL LT. FLY TITLE ON JANUARY 31

PhilBoxing.com

Undefeated 25 year old Richard ?Explosive? Claveras will defend his WBC Asia Boxing Council light flyweight title against Indonesia?s Demsi Manuofe on January 31 at the Mandaluyong City Gym known as the venue where eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao made a name for himself in his early days.

Claveras headlines an exciting card put together under the United Boxing International Promotions tandem of Edgar De Castro and Japan?s Ryuta Kato who have established a name for themselves in recent months with the fights being telecast on the top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? on Pinoy Box Office over Sky Cable at 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays with replays at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.

Claveras who has a record of 11-0-2 with all eleven wins coming by way of knockout, is coming off a 2nd round knockout of Rodel Tejares last December 9 and scoring an 8th round TKO over JC Francisco in a defense of his WBC Asia Boxing Council title.
The 23 year old southpaw Manufoe of Indonesia is reportedly a tough opponent with a record of 9-3 with 6 knockouts.

In a ten round super flyweight bout 23 year old Rene ?Commander? Dacquel who sports a record of 12?4-1 with 4 knockouts will go up against 25 year old Boy Dundee Pumar, a southpaw with a record of 10-6-3 with 4 knockouts.

Dacquel who is ranked No. 8 by the Philippine Games and Amusements Board lost a close fight against talented Jhaleel Payao and with it his WBC World Youth crown and is determined to come back with a vengeance.

Dacquel won the vacant WBC World Youth title with a ten round split decision over Ryotaro Kawabata of Japan in Okayama on July 21 last year and scored an 8th round knockout over Menard Abila in his first defense dropping Abila twice in the 5th round en route to the 8th round knockout.
