NBA -- Hornets' rally falls short, bows in OT, 104-94
By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Wed, 31 Dec 2014

CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte Hornets erased a 21-point deficit in regulation before running out of gas in overtime, losing to the Milwaukee Bucks, 104-94, at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Monday night.
Trailing 43-22 in the second quarter, the Hornets gallantly stormed all the way back in the fourth quarter where they took an 83-81 lead courtesy of a Kemba Walker basket with 54.5 ticks left.
But Milwaukee point guard Brandon Knight responded with a clutch lay-up that sent the close match into overtime. In the extra five-minute session, the Hornets folded and were outscored, 21-11.
The victory avenged the Bucks' two losses at the hands of the Hornets this season. And it wasn't easy as they almost squandered another big advantage.
"We just have to do better once we get up a lead like that. Us players have to do a better job on the court, just being better in those situations. Not just playing to stay up 20, but playing to continue to win and make right plays," Knight told ESPN.
Knight paced Milwaukee with 18 points, four assists and four steals. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 16 and eight boards while Jared Dudley finished with 17. The Bucks also got 15 from Zaza Pachulia and 13 from OJ Mayo.
On the strength of 12 of 13 made free throws, Walker sizzled for 28 points for Charlotte.Gerald Henderson finished with 19 while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 10. Big Al Jefferson turned in six points and eight rebounds, but he played for just 21 minutes before leaving the game with an injury.
The Bucks improved to 16-16 for the season, a mark that's good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets, who are a mere 7-11 at their home turf, fell to 10-22. (EB)
