The 15,000-seat Cotai Arena in the glamorous Venetian Resort Hotel here is fast becoming not only the top entertainment, but, likewise, sports destination in southern China and in the whole of Asia as well. Filipino ring sensation Manny Pacquiao has, for the second straight year, contributed immensely in establishing that reputation. Onesongchaigym of Buriram , Thailand easily turned the crowd favorite in the media conference simply because of his similarity in appearance with the Filipino icon. Besides having the same size and built, the duo from the two Southeast Asian neighbors have the same hair style and moustache The crowd broke into cheer and ovation when the Thai approached his Filipino idol after the presscon. Incidentally, that was the only time Algieri smiled, who looked tense in the entire proceeding. To other 12-round matchups ? Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine against Thai Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo for the WBO featherweight championship and Mexican Antonio deMarco vs. Nevadan Jesse Vargas for the WBA super-lightweight plum ? will be comprise the four-bout pay-per-view telecast. Another Filipino, Jerwin Ancajas of Cavite City, a prot?g? of Pacquiao?s business consultant Mike Koncz, goes up against Tanzanian Fadhili Madjiha in an eight-round super-flyweight showdown. Rex Tso of nearby Hong Kong, and Espinos Sabu of Indonesia battle in the eight-rounder. A six-rounder featuring Stephen Attard of Auatralia And local boy Kuok Kun Ng and a four-rounder matching New Zealander Andrew Robinson against Qu Peng of Delian, China complete the 74-round international card.
