CEBU CITY ? Defending champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes of the ALA Gym and Mexican challenger Carlos ?Chapito? Velarde easily made the division limit during the official weigh-in held Friday noon at Robinson's Fuente.

Nietes, who is recognized as world champion by the WBO and Ring magazine, stepped on the scales at 107.5 lbs while Velarde weighed in at 108 lbs.

Nietes is aiming to make history and surpass the seven year three month record of the great Flash Elorde while Velarde is also keen on making his own history by being the first Mexican to beat Nietes. Nietes' conditioning coach Nick Curson said during yesterday's press conference that he has worked on ?rehabilitating weaknesses and problems and increasing the power? of the ALA fighters.
