MARVIN MABAIT REPLACES SONNY BOY JARO IN TITLE FIGHT AGAINST CUADRAS By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 08 Nov 2014 Mabait. The World Boxing Council has announced that Marvin Mabait has replaced Sonny Boy Jaro in the world super flyweight title fight against unbeaten Carlos ?Principe? Cuadras in Wahington D.C. on November 13 as part of a fund-raiser called ?Fight Night? whose slogan is ?We fight for children ?will you?? Boxing Scene reported that Jaro was replaced because of visa problems. However, we haven?t been able to confirm the story with the boxer?s manager Aljoe Jaro. The WBC reported that Cuadras who is undefeated with a record of 30-0-1 with 24 knockouts had ?closed the hardest stage of his training at the rarefied heights of the Otomi Ceremonial Center, perched on the mountains overlooking Toluca.? Cuadras was quoted by the WBC saying ?It's been some time since I felt as ready as this. I?m feeling perfect for this fight.? Mabait is a 26 year old southpaw with a record of 19-2-2 with 13 knockouts. He is coming off a 5th round TKO loss to Mexican Alejandro Hernandez in a WBO Intercontinental bantamweight title fight last March 28. Mabait split the first four rounds with Hernandez but in the fifth the Mexican Hernandez caught Mabait with a right that sent the Filipino reeling into the ropes. Hernandez then pounced on Mabait with a barrage of punches forcing the referee to wave it off. However, in his previous fight Mabait scored a stunning 1st round knockout over Johnny Garcia to win the vacant WBO title on October 11, 2013 in Mexico. Cuadras won the title with an 8th round technical decision over Thailand?s Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on May 31 after Cuadras suffered a nasty cut over his left eye and they were forced to go to the scorecards of the three judges who all had Cuadras ahead on points. In his first title defense the popular Mexican successfully defended his title against Jose Salgado when the fight ended in a won by a 4th round technical decision.
