PINOY PRIDE 28 COMPLETE LINE-UP

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU ? Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes (33W-1L-4D,19KO?s) is ready for his date with history this November 15 when he defends his WBO junior flyweight world title for the fifth time against number five ranked Carlos Velarde (26W-3L-1D,14KO?s) of Mexico.

Nietes, who is also recognized as the linear world champion by Ring magazine, is set to surpass the seven year three month reign of the great junior lightweight champion Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde should he beat Velarde.

The 32 year old Nietes has been champion in two weight categories since September 30, 2007 when he won the WBO minimumweight title here in Cebu and moved up in weight to capture the WBO junior flyweight title in Bacolod on October 8, 2011.

IBF Intercontinental super bantamweight titlist ?Prince? Albert Pagara (21-0,15KO?s) will risk his unbeaten record and IBF number 10 world ranking when he takes on Raul Hirales (22-3-1,11KO?s) of Mexico. Fans will also get to see Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo, who will face Mexico?s Saul Juarez in an IBF light flyweight eliminator, former WBO 105 lb division champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo, who will be pitted against Indonesian Farris Nenggo, AJ ?Bazooka? Banal vs Thai Maxsaisai Sithsaithong, and blue chip Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo vs South Korean Moon-Sun Jung.

An intriguing addition to this fight card is the Mexican boxer who dethroned Sabillo earlier this year, Francisco Rodriguez,Jr (16-2,11KO?s).

Rodriguez will be fighting former world title challenger Virgilio Silvano (19-4-1,11KO?s) of the Omega gym in a ten round non-title contest. Rodriguez unified the titles last August when he beat erstwhile IBF champ Katsunari Takayama of Japan by unanimous decision. Silvano lost to Takayama by unanimous verdict last year. Rodriguez vs Silvano is set at a contracted weight of 109 lbs.

Rounding up the blockbuster fight card are Polid Banal vs Ritchen Rosales (4 rounds), Virgel Vitor vs Jovane Abejero (4 rounds) and Gerard Suico vs Frits Cabilla (4 rounds).

Pinoy Pride XVIII: ?HISTORY IN THE MAKING? will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
