TOGUERO CAPTURES WBC YOUTH WORLD WORLD TITLE IN LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET

Filipino southpaw Argie "Bomba" Toguero (pictured above) overpowered "The Samurai" Takaya Kakutani of Japan with a thrilling TKO to claim the vacant WBC Youth World Super Featherweight (130 lbs) crown Saturday night (Oct 4) at La Trinidad Municipal Gym in the Luzon Province of Benguet, Philippines.

The pressing-forward 21-year-old Toquero (8-3-1, 6 KO's) - who has knocked out five of his last six opponents - looked sharp and devastating while rocking the brave Green Tsuda fighter of Osaka.

In the exciting co-main event, striker Sonny "The Pinoy Tommy Hearns" Katiandagho (8-1, 5 KO's) of General Santos City scored a unanimous decision win over former OPBF champ Allan "The Leopard" Tanada (13-3-3, 5 KO's) of Zamboanga Sibugay to earn the vacant WBC Youth World Super Lightweight (140 lbs) strap.

Also, the unbeaten hard-hitting cousin of super star Manny Pacquiao, Joneil Dapidran Pacquiao, scored his sixth straight win by outpointing unyielding Pampangue?o Jeffrey Garcia. The exciting battle was in the super featherweight class.

In another clash, the popular Dayer "Die Hard" Gabutan, a former WBO Oriental bantamweight (118 lbs) titlist was too much for the 22-year-old Mike Carl Espanosa of Bacolod, knocking him out with a crushing TKO during the torrid action of round 4. Their non-title rumble was in the 126 pound division.

In addition, local featherweight fighter Nathan Bolcio (12-6-2, 4 KO's) of Kapangan, Benguet, did not disappoint his fans as he dominated the experienced 49-fight veteran Danelo Pe?a of Tiwi, Albay Province. The tangle was stopped in round 7 when an unintentional clash of head forced the third man to stop the action. The 24-year-old Bolcio got the nod as he was ahead in all the three scorecards.

Early in the evening, Cebuano Jeven Villacete pummeled and stopped Benguet boxer Benjamin Bartolome in round 4. Bartolome of Barangay Beckel in La Trinidad fought well, but Villacete was too accurate and devastating Saturday night. Their scheduled six-rounder was in the 108-pound class.

The double WBC Youth World Championship card was a production of local Benguet promoter Brico Langbay Santig, director of Highland Boxing, in association with AFS Boxing Promotions and the support of the government of the Municipality of La Trinidad.
