Mananquil 112, Xiang 111.6 For WBO Asia Pacific Flyweight Title Today in China
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Unbeaten Filipino southpaw Ben Mananquil (10-0-1, 2 KO's) of Zamboanga del Norte (L) weighed-in at 112 lbs (50.80 kgs) while Chinese warrior Xiang Jing (7-3-1, 1 KO) of Tianjin made 111.6 lbs (50.60 kgs) ahead of their 12-rounder rumble for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Flyweight title tonight (Friday July 25) in the historic Chinese city of Changsha, birthplace of chairman Mao Zedong.
Tonight's fight is a good chance for the 22-year-old undefeated Filipino to capture his first international belt, as well as a place in the WBO flyweight world rankings - a weight class where the world champion is hard-hitting Mexican Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada (26-2, 19 KO's).
In the co-main event in the heavyweight division, Argentinian veteran Manuel Alberto Pucheta (37-9, 30 KO's) of San Miguel, Tucuman, tipped the scales at 215 lbs., while 27 year-old former Olympian Razvan Cojanu (10-1, 5 KO's) of Romania scaled-in at 221 lbs for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Heavyweight strap.
The much younger, taller and active Razvan Cojanu seems to have an edge over the seasoned Argentinian, though in boxing we never know.
The international boxing show tonight in Changsha, China, is a production of active Chinese promoter Liu Gang of Zovi Boxing.
