Rex Wao wins.
In a intense toe-to-toe battle, undefeated 24-year-old knockout specialist Rex Wao (10-0, 8 KO's) stopped previously unbeaten "The Prince Warrior" Virden Rivera (wearing green trunks) in round 7 to earn the vacant WBC International Bantamweight (118 Lbs) green belt Wednesday night at the Andres Bonifacio Gym in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila.

In the equally exciting co-main event, returning Gensan's fighter Ernie Sanchez (14-5-1, 5 KO's) of the Highland Boxing Stable and veteran Randy "Gorilla" Megrino (15-17-3, 8 KO's) of Iligan City (wearing blue trunks) fought to a split decision draw in a superb combat that fully entertained the fans, but left the WBC Youth Featherweight belt vacant.

Also, fearless Carlo Magali (18-7, 2 KO's) of Bohol (wearing red trunks) scored a unanimous decision win over "The Sindagan Technician" Rey Perez (19-5, 4 KO's) to capture Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) Featherweight title.

The third man in charge was Virgilio C. Garcia. Judges Warren Jaro of Iloilo, Romeo Yulo of Cavite and Carlo A. Baluyut of San Pedro, Laguna.

In addition, 22-year-old Sarangani rookie Warlight Dapidran (3-0, 2 KO) -- first cousin of super star Manny Pacquiao -- kept his unbeaten record intact after knocking out Jerry Salivio during their 4-rounder in the light weight division.

In the night's opening fight, 22-year-old Zamboangue?o Allan "The Leopard" Tanada (13-2, 5 KO's) back from Australia, weighting 136 lbs, won a split decision over journeyman Mark "The Slam Man" Sales (20-37-3, 6 KO's) of Gensan in their close lightweight slug-fest.

During the evening, the WBC handed appreciation awards to promoters Atty. Gregorio Abalos and Ms. Hazel Chua.

Fights Wednesday (June 25) at Andres Bonifacio Gym in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, were a production of Highland Boxing in association with veteran Thailand promoter Naris Singwancha.
