Fight Night Boxing Fundraiser in North Bergen, NJ to Raise Funds for Philippine Typhoon Relief and the Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Fund

PhilBoxing.com

Jersey City, NJ (April 23, 2014) ? A Better Life Physical Therapy and Union City Boxing Club present the first annual ?Fight for A Better Life? boxing fundraiser at Schuetzen Park (3167 Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ 07047) on Friday, May 2nd, at 6:30 pm benefiting the survivors of the Philippine Typhoon and the Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Fund.

With a common vision of community outreach, A Better Life Physical Therapy and Union City Boxing Club have joined forces to assist those affected by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan . Although the natural disaster struck in November of 2013, the rebuilding process will continue for years. The proceeds of this fundraiser will benefit the Philippine Jesuit Foundation?s ?Build-A-Shelter Project,? a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General. In addition, a local inner city youth will also be awarded scholarship money towards their college education through the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

?We have a great line up of police men, fire fighters, businessmen and top amateur boxers who will step into the ring for a great cause,? says Dr. Josef V. Tuazon, event organizer and owner of A Better Life. ?We have a responsibility to our community, both locally and internationally. We have to fight for those who need our help and cannot fight for themselves.?

The event is co-sponsored by the Culinary Conference Center at the Hudson County Community College, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, the Filipino Reporter, TD Bank, Liberty Health - Jersey City Medical Center, Care Point Health, Knockout Obesity and other local businesses. All bouts will be sanctioned by USA Boxing, the governing body of amateur and Olympic boxing in the United States. Awards will be designed and created by Sartonk, maker of world championship belts that have graced the waists of the greatest boxers in the world, including Muhammad Ali.

There will be a raffle and silent auction for various sports memorabilia including autographed gloves donated by eight division world champion, BWAA fighter of the decade, Philippine Congressman, Manny Pacquiao and his trainer, Freddie Roach. There will be special guest appearances by various personalities including professional athletes, Olympians and world champions. There will be a cash bar.

Food will be available for sale. Live music will be provided by DJ Rawdeelux and PACHADA. A post-fight party will follow at Suite 36, in New York City, immediately after the fight.

Tickets are priced at $50 for general admission and $100 for VIP ringside seating. Tickets can be purchased from Union City Boxing Club, A Better Life Physical Therapy Jersey City, A Better Life Physical Therapy West New York, Serratelli Law in Clifton or by calling 866-9NJ-ABLE / 866-965-2253. Tickets will also be available at the door. Seating begins at 6 pm.

Ticket purchases and donations can be made out to the Philippine Jesuit Foundation with ?Build-A- Shelter Project? in the memo line and mailed to A Better Life Physical Therapy at 35 Journal Square, Fifth Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07306.
