FIGUEROA RETAINS TITLE BY SPLIT DECISION WIN OVER BELMONTES

CARSON, CA -- Omar Figueroa (23-0-1, 17KO) of Weslaco, TX kept his WBC Lightweight title via a split decision win over Jerry Belmontes (19-4-0, 5KO) of Corpus Christie, TX in the televised portion of the tripleheader of the Thurman vs Diaz headlined event at the Stubhub Center here. Scores were 115-114, 112-116, 118-110 in favor of Figueroa.
