PhilBoxing.com

EVENT AT COLISEO RUBEN RODGRIGUEZ IN BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO

PUERTO RICANS STACK FIGHT CARD HEADLINED BY EXPLOSIVE BOUT BETWEEN MICHAEL PEREZ & JORGE ROMERO

LOS ANGELES (April 24) - The FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes' Golden Boy Live! event at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico will be even more action-packed with the addition of a stacked undercard of Puerto Rico's top talent. Headlined by Michael "The Artist" Perez' WBA Fedelatin Super Lightweight Title defense against Mexico's tough Jorge "Koky" Romero and an eight-round bantamweight co-main event between unbeaten McJoe Arroyo and fellow Puerto Rican David Quijano the Monday, April 28 fight cardwill be one to remember.

Opening the televised portion of the card will be Caguas, Puerto Rico welterweight John Karl Sosa who will face Carolina's Victor Perez in a six-round contest. Highlighted on the non-televised undercard will be Puerto Rican power hitters Jayson Velez and Prichard Colon featured in separate bouts.

Awarded a top Puerto Rican prospect award by the WBO earlier this year, John Karl Sosa (9-0, 6 KOs) has been compared to island star Juan Manuel Lopez and the 21-year-old's exciting style has boxing fans eager to see more. On Monday, he meets Victor "Picu" Perez (3-1, 1 KO), a 20-year-old who will enter the ring on a two-fight winning streak.

Caguas' Jayson "La Maravilla" Velez (21-0, 15 KOs) is the current WBC Silver Featherweight Champion and while his title isn't on the line against Arecibo's Miguel Soto (11-2, 11 KOs), expect to see this Boricua bomber keep the momentum going from his recent wins over Salvador Sanchez and Dat Nguyen. The 25-year-old Soto is a southpaw slugger who has ended each of his professional wins by knockout. Velez and Soto will battle in a 10-round featherweight contest.

A talented amateur who earned a spot on the 2012 Puerto Rican Olympic squad, 21-year-old Orocovis native Prichard Colon (8-0, 8 KOs) has yet to let an opponent hear the final bell as a professional and with six first-round knockouts, most don't even make it to the second round. Looking to break this streak will be Gurabo's Javier Garcia (6-4-1, 2 KOs) when the two square off in an eight round super welterweight bout.

In a four round lightweight contest hoping to get on the television broadcast if there is time will be a clash between Humacao's Jose Lopez (1-0, 1 KO) and San Juan's Roberto Rivera (2-1, 1 KO).

Also, in a lightweight bout scheduled for four rounds, Caguas' Rafael "El Pollo Blanco" Gonzalez (8-1, 6 KOs) will face an opponent to be named. Plus, Caguas super bantamweight Josue Declet (2-0-1) takes on Edgardo Marin (0-1) of Humacao in a four-round matchup and in the four-round welterweight opener, Tampa's Willie Jones (3-0, 2 KOs) faces Caguas' Juan Castillo (2-2, 2 KOs).

Perez vs. Romero is a 10-round bout for Perez' WBA Fedelatin Super Lightweight Title, presented by Golden Boy Promotions and PR Best Boxing and sponsored by Corona and O'Reilly Auto Parts. The Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez doors open at 6:00 p.m. ET and the first fight begins at 6:30 p.m. ET. The FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes broadcast airs live at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
