New Orleans ? In the absence of New Orleans Pelicans? point guards, Tyreke Evans stepped up assumed the position with flair, scoring a career-high 41 points, nine rebounds and eight assists on Monday night.
Evans' all-around effort pushed the Pelicans to a 101-89 victory over the powerhouse Oklahoma City Thunder at the Smoothie King Center.
Evans played the point due to the absence of Bryant Roberts and Jrue Holiday plus the second quarter ejection Austin Rivers, who got into a scuffle with Thunder center Nick Collison..
Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis did not play due to back spasms.
?His contributions were phenomenal. He?s not supposed to play tonight, that?s the amazing part. He wants to play and made a last minute decision. To let him go out there and tried to work out.? New Orleans head coach Monty Williams said.
Luke Babbitt contributed 12 points while Darius Miller along with Alexis Ajinca both added 10 points for New Orleans. Rivers who got ejected in the second quarter, delivered 8 points, 2 assists.
Kevin Durant had 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists for Oklahoma while Serge Ibaka added 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists. Caron Butler chipped in 19 points. (AIJ)
