WBC SILVER SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP ROBERTO ORTIZ VS. RAMIRO ALCARAZ

FEMALE JUNIOR FLYWEIGHTS ANABEL ORTIZ VS. IVONNE ROSAS

LOS ANGELES (Apr. 9) - Unbeaten in 31 professional fights, Torreon, Coahuila Mexico's Roberto "Massa" Ortiz has punched his way to the top of the 140-pound weight class. But in the process, he's got a slew of fellow contenders looking to take his WBC Silver Super Lightweight Title, and on Saturday, April 12, Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico's Ramiro "Xixime" Alcaraz will be next in line to challenge him in a 12-round bout that headlines a Televisa and FOX Deportes-televised card from the Grand Oasis Arena in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

In the 10-round co-main event, female junior flyweights meet, as Tepic, Nayarit Mexico's Anabel "Avispa" Ortiz battles Mexico City's Ivonne "Chiquita" Rosas.

Currently ranked fourth in the world by the WBC, Roberto "Massa" Ortiz (30-0-1, 23 KOs) is rapidly closing in on a shot at Danny "Swift" Garcia's world championship, but the 28-year-old has business to tend to against Perea first on April 12. The WBC Silver champion since June of 2011, he has since successfully defended his belt a remarkable nine times, most recently winning a hard-fought 12 round unanimous decision over Reyes Sanchez last October. Now he begins 2014 with hopes it culminates with a world title belt around his waist.

Eager to capitalize on recent performances in which he split two fights with highly-regarded Antonio Lozada Jr., Ramiro "Xixime" Alcaraz (14-3-1, 8 KOs) is a determined up and comer who can take his career to the next level with a win over Ortiz on Saturday. Winner of nine of his 11 bouts, Alcaraz believes now is his time to shine.

Nicknamed "Avispa" or "The Wasp," Anabel Ortiz (12-3, 2 KOs) knows how to sting opponents in the ring, and while her WBA World Minimum weight title won't be on the line in this bout, expect her to fight with all the intensity she always shows in the ring. Already a decorated competitor with several titles to her name at 27, Ortiz is determined to show the world that she's one of the best in the game, pound-for-pound.

Ivonne "Chiquita" Rosas (10-6-1, 2 KOs) has been competing professionally since 2010, paying her dues while battling through the tough Mexican boxing circuit. On April 12, the 23-year-old Rosas will risk her three-fight winning streak, but she knows that with a win over a world champion like Ortiz, she will make a statement that she is ready for a title shot.

Ortiz vs. Alcaraz, a 12-round bout for Ortiz' WBC Silver Super Lightweight Title, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Cancun Boxing Pepe Gomez and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 6pm CT and the first fight begins at 6:30pm CT. The Televisa broadcast will air on Canal 5 and begins at 10:30pm CST and the FOX Deportes broadcast will air at 10pm ET.
