PETALCORIN BLASTS SINGMANASAK IN 2; LOOKS TO FIGHT FOR A WORLD TITLE NEXT

Randy Petalcorin of the Philippines blasted out Samransak Singmanasak of Thailand to win by 2nd round TKO of their ten round light flyweight bout at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne, Australia Friday night. Singmanasak was a late substitute after Petalcorin's original opponent Lookrak Kiatmungmee pulled out due to injury 10 days before the bout.
According to Petalcorin's manager Peter Maniatis, "with my co-manager Jim Manangquil, will now look to press for a WBA World title for Petalcorin next."
Kazuko Ioka recently vacated the WBA Light Flyweight world title and now WBA #2 Randy Petalcorin is well placed to fight for the vacant WBA Light Flyweight World title.
Petalcorin said "I was training and ready for 12 rounds before Lookrak pulled out but now winning in the 2nd round is good and I admire Samransak for stepping up to fight as a late sub."
A highlight of the event was when promoter Peter Maniatis was awarded the WBC Australia Asia promoter of the year by WBC official Michael Cusick for the second year in a row.
Petalcorin improved his record to 21-1-1 with 15 knockouts while Singmanasak dropped to 35-22-1 with 27 stoppages.
