SAN DIEGO FIGHTS BORDER WAR PhilBoxing.com Wed, 26 Mar 2014 KENIA ENRIQUEZ vs JOLENE BLACKSHEAR VACANT NABF LIGHT FLYWEIGHT TITLE FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON HOTEL FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH, 2014 California Boxing Hall of Fame promoter Bobby D. Presents is ready to announce the second edition of his very successful live boxing series set for Friday, April 4th, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in the Kearny Mesa suburb of San Diego. Slated for the main event of a very special ?San Diego Fights: Border War?, Tijuana?s own undefeated Kenia Enriquez (10-0, 5KOs) puts her perfect record on the line as she takes on the experienced Jolene Blackshear (8-4, 3KOs) of San Diego for the vacant NABF junior flyweight title in an eight round championship bout. ?Our last two shows have been some of the best I?ve done in over thirty years of boxing, I am sure this next one will not disappoint,? Bobby DePhilippis said regarding his next fight card. ?Kenia has all the makings of a world champion and this will be her first shot at a junior title, we are really looking forward to it.? Enriquez is coming off her first U.S. debut last month where she defeated the previously undefeated Noemi Bosques of St. Petersburg, Florida. Enriquez sent Bosques down in the first with a counter left hook and then went on to control the majority of the action with quick right hands and power punches to the body. Bosques had her moments but only to win one round on one of the official cards which came in at 60-53 twice and 59-54. Enriquez is no stranger to Blackshear since they have met in sparring some years ago in Enriquez?s hometown across the border. Blackshear has captured the interim WIBA light flyweight titles as well as battling for the IFBA minimum strap twice. Blackshear has clearly faced the better opponents than the twenty-year-old Kenia in current world champ Melissa McMorrow, world title challenger Linda Soto and current IFBA 108 lb. champ Sindy Amador, all who she defeated. ?We got in the ring some years ago and it was good sparring,? Kenia said regarding her next opponent. ?I expect an even better Jolene so that is why I am working harder than ever.? Blackshear is knows as a technical fighter who should hold more than her own against the much more aggressive and harder hitting Enriquez in this much anticipated scrap. In the semi-main event, popular San Diego super welterweight David Barragan (7-0-1, 3KOs) is slated in a six rounder against Mesa, Arizona?s Saul Benitez (2-5-1). Benitez is a hard charging brawler with a granite chin who has only been stopped once back in 2012. Barragan is coming off his six round bout against the experienced Arthur Brambila and now will look to impress his loyal following by stopping Benitez in a more definite manner. ?Diamond Girl? Amaris Quintana (6-2-2, 1KO) will take on Susan Reno (1-1-1) in a six round light flyweight fight. The return of exiled lightweight Adrian Vargas (7-0-1, 5KOs) will also be featured on the card as well as hard hitting super middleweight Ulises Sierra (5-0-1, 4KOs), each in their own respective four rounders. The Four Points Sheraton is located at 8110 Aero Drive in San Diego. ?San Diego Fights: Border War? is brought to to you in part by Mossy Automotive Group, Filippi?s Pizza Grotto, GSG General Contractor, Everlast and Car Czar. The event is open to all ages where food and drink will be served. Doors open at 6:30pm with the first punch thrown at 7:30pm.
