By Absalon Inocian, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Tue, 25 Mar 2014

NEW ORLEANS ? The New Orleans Pelicans showed a lot of heart and determination to defend their home court Monday night.
Led by 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans the Pelicans overhauled a 22-point deficit to score a stunning 109-104 overtime upset over the visitng Brooklyn Nets at the Smoothie King Center.
Evans finished with a career-high 33 points with 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Anthony Davis added had 24 points and 14 boards and Brian Roberts added 17 as New Orleans bumped its record to 30-40.
?I?m just proud of our guys. We just fight, we hang in there with each other. That?s a sign of a high character locker room. We build a good team tonight and for us to be a team, I think we have to continue doing that second half effort,? Pelicans head coach Monty Williams told reporters after the game.
?Part of being a coach is to remind them, I just don?t have to be their friend, I got to get them to be better in playing at a high level at all times.? He added.
After taking a comfortable 22-point lead in the second quarter, the Nets appeared on their way to their 38th win of the season. But they were held to 13 points in the third quarter while the Pelicans dropped 31 to mount the comeback.
Paul Pierce led the Nets with 24 points. Deron Williams had 23 and Joe Johnson adding 15 points. (AIJ)
