The Great White studies ahead of upcoming bout

PhilBoxing.com

Current WBC Featherweight youth World Champion, ?The Great White? Brayd Smith, attended University today ahead of his toughest challenge yet on Friday night. The 4th year law student who is set to take on well experienced Argentine, Jose Saez on the ?Smithy brings the big fights 6? card says, the studies takes his mind off the boxing. ?I know I have a huge fight on Friday night and attending a few classes helps take my mind off the fight and allows me to relax, but in saying that I am 100% focused on this fight.?

Smith, who is 8-0 with 7 knockouts, is confident ahead of the Friday nights bout, ?I?m as fit as I?ve ever been and every fight is make or break in my quest for a world title, this is a huge test and I look forward to rising to the challenge in my hometown. There is nothing I enjoy more than stepping through the ropes and in particularly in front of hopefully a sellout Toowoomba crowd.?

Father/trainer/manager Brendon Smith said he could not be more proud of the fighter and academic Brayd is becoming, ?He is going great with Uni and he keeps improving and getting stronger and stronger in the ring. He has a huge test in Jose Saez on Friday night; Saez fought Jack (Asis) last year and has really good hands. He is very experienced and knows all the tricks of the trade, but we feel Brayd is ready to take the next step in his career.?

Argentine Jose Saez spoke through an interpreter upon departure of Argentina today and said that, ?I am coming to knock this boy out, I know of Braydon and that is exactly what he is, a boy. He is going well but he has never faced a man of my experience and that will be the factor come Friday night.?

This fight will take place on the undercard of ?Smithy Brings the Big Fights 6? which will be headlined by the return of Michael Katsidis ?The Great? vs tough Indonesian Eddy Comaro. The card will also see Filipino star and adopted Toowoomba boy Jack ?The Assassin? Asis take on Indonesia?s Arief Bladder. Undefeated local KO artist ?The Fighting Fisherman?
