NBA -- Nets tame streaking Bulls, 96-80

BROOKLYN -- The Brooklyn Nets defeated the visiting Chicago Bulls, 96-80, Monday night at The Barclays Center here in Brooklyn.
Point guard Deron Williams led the Nets with 20 points and Joe Johnson added 19. At 29-29, the Nets climbed back to the .500 mark for the first time since November 5 when they started the season at 2-2.
The Nets' Paul Pierce and Shaun Livingston each scored 14 points for Brooklyn, which played without starting center Kevin Garnett for a second straight game because of back spasms.
Entering this game, the surging Bulls had won 9 of their last 10 games but 28 turnovers which led to 30 Nets points put Chicago's streak to a screeching halt.
D.J. Augustin scored 16 points off the bench to pace the Bulls. Forward Carlos Boozer had 10 and 13 boards while Taj Gibson finished with 12. After capturing his 5th career triple-double against the Knicks on Sunday, Joakim Noah only had 10 points, six rebounds and a lone assist this time.
The 33-27 Bulls hope to rebound on Wednesday, March 5 in Detroit where they visit the flailing Pistons.
The Nets, meanwhile, will ost the Memphis Grizzlies here in Brooklyn also on Wednesday night. (RS)
