NBA -- Clippers trounce Pelicans behind 16 triples By Absalon Inocian, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 26 Feb 2014 NEW ORLEANS -- Mardi Gras is here in New Orleans but it was the Los Angeles Clippers who had a scoring party Monday night at the Smoothie King Center. With six players scoring double figures in points, the Clippers ran away from the New Orleans Pelicans, 123-110. Los Angeles drilled 16 of 28 threes to break a close game wide open after three quarters. Jamal Crawford led the Clips with 24 points, including seven triples. Blake Griffin had 22 while Chris Paul added 19 markers and 13 assists. DeAndre Jordan finished with 14 and 16 boards to help Los Angeles win two in a row and improve to 39-20 in the Western Conference standings. "When you play that unselfish with many good players, a lot of good things are going to happen," Clippers head coach Doc Rivers told reporters during his post-game press conference. Anthony Davis, New Orleans' lone All-Star, led the Pelicans' home stand with 26 points and 11 boards but the effort wasn't enough for New Orleans despite shooting 53 percent from the field in the opening quarter. Alexis Ajinica tallied a career-high 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Pelicans, who shot just 37 of 87 from the field. New Orleans dropped to 23-33 in the talent-loaded Western Conference.
