NBA -- Suns set on Sixers, 124-113

NEW YORK - The visiting Phoenix Suns thrashed the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in the "City of Brotherly Love," Philadelphia on Monday night.
The Suns blew the game open early, scoring 40 points in the opening period and carrying a double digit lead for most of the game.
Suns guard Gerald Green led all scorers with 30 points, and knocked down 10 of his 12 shots, including four 3-pointers. Teammate Goran Dragic chipped in with 24 points of his own. Center Miles Plumlee manned the post, pulling down a double-double, scoring 14 and grabbing 13 boards.
The Sixers promising young tandem of Turner, Young, and Carter-Williams each scored over 20 points. Rookie Michael Carter-Williams lead the way with 22 points and 11 dimes. Forwards Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner dropped 21 each in Philadelphia's balanced scoring attack.
The win improves Phoenix to 26-18. The loss drops the Sixers to 14-31 for last place in the Atlantic Division and they will be hoping for better luck on Wednesday night in Boston. (RS)
