NBA -- Knicks rout Bobcats 125-96, Anthony sets all-time Garden scoring record By Raman Sharma PhilBoxing.com Mon, 27 Jan 2014 NEW YORK -- Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony solidified his place among the elite scorers in the NBA with 62 points which was a career high and an all-time high at Madison Square Garden by any player. Anthony's 62 edged him ahead of Kobe Bryant's 61 points at the Garden and ahead of his idol, Knicks great Bernard King's 60 points, scored on Christmas Day in 1984. Behind Anthony's scoring explosion, The New York Knicks beat the visiting Charlottte Bobcats with a final score of 125-96 Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Knicks' JR Smith added 14 points including three 3 pointers. The Knicks as a team shot 14-27 from the 3-point-line for 52%. Carmelo Anthony also had a game high 13 rebounds to go with his 62 points, all while committing zero turnovers. Carmelo Anthony tied Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady for the sixth-highest scoring game in the NBA since the 1985-86 season. In the past 10 seasons, only Bryant has scored more than tonight's performance (with 81 points in 2006 and 65 points in 2007). Ever the professional, Anthony told reporters after the game, "My teammates found me. I've got to thank them." The Bobcats were led by center Al Jefferson's 25 points and nine rebounds. Kemba Walker, who has averaged 25 points per game this season against the Knicks in three games, sat out his third game in a row with an injured left ankle. Tonight's win lifts the Knicks (16-27) to 6.5 games behind the Atlantic Division leading Toronto Raptors. The loss drops the Bobcats to an overall record of 19-26.
