Promoter John 'The Quietman' Ruiz presents AFO MMA Ring Girls Competition Finals Jan. 4 at The Greatest Bar in Boston

MEDFORD, Mass. (December 30, 2013) - The AFO MMA Ring Girls Competition Finals will be held this Saturday night (7 p.m. ET start) at The Greatest Bar (262 Friend Street) in Boston.

All of the original contest entrants will be introduced at the aforementioned event. The 10 finalists will be announced and compete before a panel of five judges who will select the five official AFO MMA Ring Girls for 2014.

New England's newest combat sports promoter, two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight boxing champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz, owns and operates the new American Fighting Organization (AFO).

"This event will launch the new AFO," said Ruiz, who is the remains the only world heavyweight boxing champion of Latino heritage. "We are reintroducing the AFO and letting fans throughout New England that the new AFO is here and ready to go. We are in final negotiations with several potential venues for our MMA and boxing events.

"We wanted to get people from various sports and dance to be judges and we have a great group. I'm honored that they've agree to take time from their busy schedules to judge our contest."

Santi DeOleo, executive producer of JAM'M 94.5 FM "Ramiro's House" morning show, will be the Master of Ceremonies, while AFO ring announcer John Vena serves as the event host.

The five celebrity judges for Saturday night's AFO MMA Ring Girls Competition Finals will be Lyndon "LB" Byers, former Boston Bruins tough guy and WAAF sports jock; Reia Connor, former New England Patriots cheerleader and owner/dance instructor of Boston's only full service dance and promotional company, Phunk Phenomenom; former New England Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham, currently a writer/analyst/broadcaster for the Boston Herald, NESN, WEEI, and Patriots This Week; former New England Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins, an NFL analyst for CSN New England and guest on 98.5 The Sports Hub; and fitness specialist Maria Diaz.

AFO will promote amateur and professional mixed martial arts and boxing events, as well as promote MMA fighters and boxers, starting in early 2014 with an amateur MMA tournament in various weight classes to determine the best in New England.

A specially designed AFO title belt to be awarded to each tournament winner will be displayed for the first time at the AFO Ring Girls Competition Finals. A trophy will also be awarded to the gym producing the most champions at the AFO MMA Tournament. Ruiz also set a goal for promoting his first boxing event, possibly a Pro-Am, or even a boxing-MMA hybrid, outdoors this coming summer.
