Ronda Rousey remains unbeaten UFC womens champ with another submission win
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 29 Dec 2013

It was not another first round victory that everybody anticipated of Mixed Martial Arts superstar Ronda Rousey tonight, but she got the win the same way she?s been dominating her opponents in her previous fights - via the armbar.
Rousey,26, retained her Ultimate Fighting Championship women?s bantamweight belt when she forced rival Miesha Tate, 27, to submit in the 3rd round of their scheduled five round duel at The MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas via her signature move ? a grappling submission move called the armbar.
Rousey, 26, used excellent judo, taking down Tate to the canvas numerous times in the fight, in an effort to wrestle her arm and locked it in position. But Tate, the former champion, was game and persistent in her defense, preventing not only the arm lock but Rousey?s triangle choke at the end of the 2nd round.
Tate was tagging Rousey with her punches when both are upright. She survived the first and second round despite spending numerous times in her back, making her the first fighter to last more than a round against Rousey.
But once Tate is brought down to the canvas, she goes into survival mode - tossing, turning and blocking Rousey?s attempt to grab her arm. Rousey, besides her grappling, rained solid punches on Tate who was forced to cover against the onslaught.
The end of the fight came in the early moments of the third, when Rousey found Tate?s left arm, locked her leg across her opponent?s neck and extended it until Tate submits by tapping.
The official time was 58 seconds of Round 3.
Rousey remained unbeaten and successfully defended her women?s title in MMA?s premier league with the victory in a match that was clearly the main selling point of UFC?s pay per view offering tonight.
