NBA preseason -- Farmar shines in Lakers' romp over Jazz

LOS ANGELES -- Jordan Farmar caught fire in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Lakers burned the Utah Jazz, 108-94, in front of 17,186 fans at the Staples Center.
Farmar scored 13 points in a 3-minute 17-second span of the fourth quarter to help the Lakers pull away for good. Farmar, who returned from overseas play to rejoin the Lakers this past summer, finished with a game-high 20 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field.
Jodie Meeks also provided a huge spark for the Lakers' offense, hitting 15 points including 2-of-4 from 3-point range. Pau Gasol, Wesley Johnson and Shawne Williams also lent a hand, chipping in nine points apiece.
After trailing by as many as 12 points, the Lakers turned the tables on the Jazz and shot 47.4 percent from the field (36-of-76) and 40 percent from the rainbow arc (10-of-25).
Brian Cook, a former Laker, paced Utah with 18 markers while Derrick Favors, who recently inked a four-year extension worth $49 million, finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lakers, who dropped two exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors in Beijing and Shanghai, China, improved their preseason slate to 3-4. The Jazz dropped to 1-5. (LCJ)
