Despite a spirited effort by the determined Davis, the pulverizing power of Melendez (27-3,-1 26 KOs) proved to be too much, as he was knocked down twice in round one and finally stopped at 2:29 of round two, in no shape to continue. Jamaal Davis lasted the distance against great contenders and world champions like Peter Quillin and Yuri Foreman, but the power of 'The Destroyer' was too much for him to handle."
