In 2008, the current WBC Fecarbox Super Flyweight Champion out-slugged the then-18-year old rising star Banal during the 10th round of the WBA Interim Super Flyweight World Title bout. The loss was considered one of the biggest upsets in Philippine boxing history, not only for the young Filipino fighter and his camp but for all his countrymen who rooted for him to win the world title belt.
