LES ?LOCK N LOAD? SHERRINGTON VS SHIGETAKA YONEZAWA
PhilBoxing.com Thu, 29 Aug 2013

Current WBF World middleweight champion and WBO World ranked Les ?Lock N Load? Sherrington will take on Japanese star Shigetaka Yonezawa on September 20 at Southport sharks on the Gold Coast for the WBC Asian Boxing Council middleweight title.
This is following news last week that the original opponent Manny Siaca had withdrawn with a severe heart condition, a development that left the September 20 card in jeapordy.
However team Lock N Load worked very hard to find a suitable opponent.
?When one door shuts another one opens,? said Sherrington.
?Brendon has been working overtime to find a suitable opponent and also doing a lot of work with the boxing sanctioning bodies to get this fight happening on short notice.?
?I am now fighting for a very prestigious title, the WBC Asian boxing council middleweight title and this is a great opportunity for me and will give me great exposure in Japan.?
Yonezawa, who is very well known in Japan, will be bringing a Japanese television crew with him, which will air the fight and a documentary in Japan a week or two after the fight takes place. This is something trainer and manager Brendon Smith believes is a huge opportunity for Sherrington to be seen by an international audience.
?This is a great opportunity for Les to be seen by a massive international audience,? said Smith.
?This is a big fight for a prestigious title but Les is having a great preparation and is up for the challenge.?
The September 20 card will also feature a stack of local talent. Hot prospect Rohan Murdock will take on Togasilimai Letoa. Rising middleweight star Liam Hutchinson will square off against Sydney?s Brad Veigel and in a battle of the heavyweight debutants, Mitch Therylle will fight Gold Coasts own Jim McCaughey plus another exciting fight to be announced.
Tickets for the night are still available on www.ticketmaster.com.au.
