?IRON? WILL YOUNG SEEKING REVENGE IN TITLE SHOT PhilBoxing.com Fri, 16 Aug 2013 Toowoomba?s action hero ?Iron? Will Young will be out seeking revenge when he gets his much-anticipated rematch with Brisbane?s Matt Sedan for the Queensland featherweight title on Smithy?s Brings the Big Fights 5 on October 4 at Rumours International. Almost a year has past since Young was narrowly defeated by Sedan in a controversial points decision in what was an extremely close fight which left the crowd on its feet on the Smithy?s Brings the big fights 2 card in October last year, and much has changed. Since then ?Iron? Will has had two more wins and gained a wealth of experience in the boxing ring and he feels the time is right to step up and fight for his first professional title. ?I?m extremely excited to be fighting for the Queensland featherweight title,? said Young. ?To win a state title has been one of my goals as a professional and I am leaving no stone unturned. The fact that it is also giving me the opportunity to rematch Matt only adds fuel to my fire. I can?t wait to put on a great show on October 4?. Will Young isn?t the only person looking forward to the opportunity. Trainer Brendon Smith says they are working hard to reverse the outcome of the pair?s previous outing. ?Last time I thought we did enough to get the decision however the judges didn?t see it that way and that?s boxing,? said Smith ?Will and I have been working very hard together to ensure that this time the outcome is reversed and Will can achieve his goal of winning the Queensland title?. This fight will take place on the undercard of Smithy?s Brings the big fights 5 on October 4. This card will feature 5 title fights highlighted by ?The Assassin? Jack Asis as he takes on Japans Hirohito Fukuhara for the WBC Asia continental super featherweight title. Also featuring will be Toowoomba?s undefeated ?The Great White? Brayd Smith as he returns from injury fighting for the WBC World Silver Youth Title. English import and now adopted local Darren ?Assa Marra? Askew will take on Mark Ramirez for the Queensland junior welterweight title and Kyle ?Tank? Teer will also fight for the Queensland lightweight title. Promoter Brendon Smith believes that this card featuring two regional and three state titles is among one of his biggest. ?We have five titles in one night? said Smith. ?I believe that this is the biggest card we have done in Toowoomba. Each fight will be a 50/50 fight and we can expect that each boxer will grow and extra arm and a leg to try and take those belts home. Tickets go on sale today and will remain the same price as the previous events at $75 for ringside seats and $45 for general seats. ![]() |
