AN EVEN PAR 70 IS ENOUGH FOR TIGER WOODS TO WIN 2013 BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 Aug 2013

Today, the third day of the Bridgestone Invitation at Akron, Ohio, Tiger Woods played a routine non-eventful 18 hole round of golf at northeast Ohio?s Firestone Country Club but still won his 5th PGA title in year 2013 with a blazing 15 shots under par.
His round today was good but not awesome. He just scored an even par 70. That is a far cry from his 61 last Friday that set the tone for the weekend.
But he closed up the 18th hole with a spectacular shot from the fairway that landed about 6 feet from the hole allowing him an easy par putt to close the win.
Not that Tiger was unfamiliar with the Firestone. He first played at the course back when he was a 15 years old. But what made the win so awesome was that 48 of the top 50 players in the world competed in the tournament.
The win today gives him a total of 79 PGA wins and he is creeping close to Sam Snead's long standing record of 84 wins.
As Woods walked back to the club house, his son Charlie was brought over to greet his Dad and Woods carried him triumphantly from the 18th green to the club house.
Woods won the tournament going away and leading by 7 shots at 15 under par. The closest players to him were Keegan Bradley of the US and Henrick Stenson of Sweden who both finished the tournament tied at second place at 8 under par.
Woods basically actually won the tournament after 36 holes where he developed a 7 shot lead. He never relinquished it even after 54 holes. He had a 61 Friday, 64 Saturday and 70 today.
With his win Woods now leads the FEDEX CUP standings with Matt Kuchar second at minus 787 points and Brandt Snedeker at minus 817 points.
Next up will be the 95th PGA Championships at Oakhill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Woods has three days to rest until that one starts on Thursday. It will also be carried live by CBS and TNT.
