RESULTS FROM BOSTON: Traietti stops Stanley in 6th

PhilBoxing.com

BOSTON (July 27, 2013) - Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (14-3, 9 KOs) won his fourth straight fight, stopping an overmatched Dion Stanley (11-6, 7 KOs) in the main event on tonight's "The Roxy Homecoming Celebration" card, at The Royale Nightclub in Boston.

"The Roxy Homecoming Celebration" was presented by Big Six Entertainment, in association with Danny Kelly Promotions and Cappiello Boxing.

Traietti, fighting of Quincy (MA), pounded his Kansas City (MO) cruiserweight opponent from the opening bell until the fight ended in the sixth on a technical knockout, mixing effective body punches and heavy shots to the head. Stanley took a knee in the fifth after being hit with a left to the nose, and again in the sixth, after which the referee called off the fight.

In a battle of unbeaten light welterweights, Puerto Rican-invader Jonathan Perez (5-0, 3 KOs) dropped Boston's Gabriel Duluc (8-1, 1 KO) right before the bell signaling the end the first round. Duluc failed to beat the referee's count and Perez was awarded a knockout victory. Duluc protested the outcome to no avail, claiming he stood at the nine count.

For his second fight in a row, Irish welterweight John "Bancara Banger" Hutchinson's (3-0-2, 1 KO) fight ended in a technical draw. The Dunegal, Ireland native, now fighting out of Boston, appeared to be well on his way to a win over Cape Cod fighter

Robert Brando-Hunt (0-3-1). However, an unintentional head-butt near the end of the first round caused a cut over the right eye of Brando-Hunt. On the advice of the ring physician, the fight was stopped at 59-seconds of the second round, resulting in a technical draw.

Blue-chip welterweight prospect Rashidi "The Prince" Ellis (1-0), the 2012 National PAL Tournament champion, turned in a dazzling professional debut against 20-fight veteran "Steamin'" Josh Beeman, of Brockton. The 19-year-old from nearby Lynn (MA) used his superior hand-and-foot speed to control a game Beeman en route to an impressive win by unanimous four-round decision.

Crowd-pleasing Stoneham (MA) welterweight Greg Vendetti (3-0-1) dropped Brockton southpaw Antonio Chaves Fernandes (2-11-2) twice in the opening round but had to settle for a questionable four-round draw.

Providence super middleweight Pubilo "Ethan" Pena (1-1, 1 KO) won his first pro fight when his bout versus Jimmy Cappiello (4-4-2, 1 KO), of Somerville (MA), was halted after two rounds on the advice of the ring doctor due to a cut under Cappiello's right eye.

Connecticut light heavyweight Joe Powers (1-1, 1 KOs) notched his first professional victory when his fight against previously undefeated Mical Weisberg (3-1, 2 KOs), of Stoughton (MA), was stopped after three rounds on the advice of the ring doctor due to a cut over Weisberg's left eye.
